Map Search and Analysis

1. Use the Internet or library to find one example of each of the following types of maps. If you use an Internet source, please copy and paste them into a Word document. Please note the source (for this assignment, it is fine if you merely paste a URL to record the source).

· Reference Maps:

· a. bathymetric

· b. topographic

· Thematic Maps:

· a. dot-distribution

· b. choropleth

· c. isoline map

· d. flow map

· e. cartogram

2. Choose one of the thematic maps you found and answer the following questions. These should be in complete sentences and should not exceed one typewritten page.

· What is the purpose of the map?

· Who is the intended audience of the map?

· What do you think could improve the readability of the map?

· Describe the patterns you see on the map.

· Provide one possible explanation for the pattern you have observed.

Contribute a minimum of 1 page. It should include at least 1 academic source, formatted and cited in APA.
