Short Paper 1: 500-600 words

Analyze the concept of “Border Syndrome” in
A Short Border Handbook as a literary metaphor rooted in individual experiences but also in historical and political realities, past and present. Refer to specific examples (excerpts, characters, literary devices etc.) from the novel to illustrate your analysis. Students can make brief or extensive references to the content, plot, or structure of the book and analyze especially the ways these literary elements and choices convey, relate, or serve the main narrative about “Border Syndrome”. Students are strongly encouraged to integrate in the paper the discussions in class, information from independent research as well as share personal thoughts and insights about how the readings and discussions in class have impacted their perceptions and knowledge regarding literature, politics, borders, migration, Cold War, Albania, South/Eastern Europe, etc.

Submission deadline: September 21st, 11:49 pm (late submissions will need permission from me)
