In your readings and related discussions, you have examined the relationship between

social work practice and social policy development at themicro, mezzo, andmacro levels.

Given that “the coremission of the social work profession is the promotion of social,

economic, and political justice for all people” (Colby et al., 2013, p.1), there can be no

denying that social work is inextricably linkedwith policy development, implementation,

and analysis efforts.

In a 3–5 page paper:

1. Explain why social workers should bewell-informed and skilled in policy

development, implementation, and analysis at all levels. Be sure to consider

both historical and contemporary references to substantiate your response.

2. Consider your leadership skills and preferences at this point in your doctoral

program and how you can build and apply the skills necessary to effectively

develop, implement, and analyze social welfare policies. To do this, choose a

social problem related to one of the policies you discussed in the firstWeek 1

discussion and decide how you can address the problem through policy

development and implementation.Note: youwill also work with the policy
pertaining to this problem throughout the remainder of the course.

3. Addressing this social problem, explain how youmight analyze contemporary

policies and their effectiveness. Make relevant suggestions to improve these

policies. Again, be sure to use relevant literature to support your views. Several

Campus links are provided in Resources for your convenience.
