Lesson Plan Template

Important: You should continue with the nursing topic you selected in Module 1 where you identified a nursing topic, explained your rationale, identified the learner characteristics for each of the three learner groups (i.e., nursing students, nursing staff, and patient/caregiver), and analyzed those characteristics and their influence on lesson design and delivery, including ethical and technological considerations. In Module 2, you selected the teaching strategies/methods most relevant for teaching your nursing topic to the three learner groups, created learning objectives pertinent to each learner group, and selected the appropriate learning environments for delivering your nursing topic.

Part 2. Lesson Plan

Note: Some information is developed further from your work in earlier modules. Using the
Part 1. Technology Solution Matrix to inform your work, select one technology solution and complete a
Lesson Plan for each learner group (i.e., nursing students, nursing staff, and patient/caregiver).

Learner Group: Nursing Students

Purpose

Explain the purpose behind teaching the selected nursing topic to the nursing student learner group.

Learning Outcomes

Identify any wider outcomes (e.g., program/course/curriculum framework or institutional goals) that your lesson needs to consider for the nursing student learner group.

Lesson Learning Objectives

Create at least one lesson learning objective for the nursing student learner group.
Remember, objectives should be:

· Action oriented and as high a level in Bloom’s taxonomy as appropriate for the learner level

· Clear in how they allow students to achieve the domains of learning: cognitive/knowledge, psychomotor/skill, affective/attitude

· SMART

Note

: You developed one learning objective for each learner group in Module 2. Revise and refine your learning objective for this group and add one or two more if appropriate for your lesson.

Lesson Learning Experience and Technology Solution

Describe the technology-enhanced lesson for the nursing student learner group, incorporating your teaching strategy/method and one technology solution from the Part 1 Matrix. Be specific. Consider the elements previously identified:

· Are there structured and/or unstructured resources and/or activities?

· What learning theory and active and/or passive learning approaches?

· What are the learning domains—cognitive, affective, psychomotor?

· How does the technology-enhanced lesson help the learner meet the objective(s)?

Learner Group: Nursing Staff

Purpose

Explain the purpose behind teaching the selected nursing topic to the nursing staff learner group.

Learning Outcomes

Identify any wider outcomes (e.g., program/course/curriculum framework or institutional goals) that your lesson needs to consider for the nursing staff learner group.

Learner Group: Patient/Caregiver

Purpose

Explain the purpose behind teaching the selected nursing topic to the patient/caregiver learner group.

Learning Outcomes

Identify any wider outcomes (e.g., program/course/curriculum framework) that your lesson needs to consider for the patient/caregiver learner group.

Use the Learning Resources and/or best available evidence from current literature to support your lesson planning.
