2. ”Those who have trusted God should find great comfort in the restoration of God. He is not simply saving us, setting us free, and then begrudgingly accepting us. Instead, he has purposefully set in motion a plan to restore the bond he had with his children before it was severed through sin.” John Cartwright and Chris Hulshof,

-This concept resonated with me because sometimes it is so easy to think of the Bible and God’s plan in a straight line. The straight line of try not to sin, do your best, and then you’re in Heaven. We all sin. We are all children of God. He sent Jesus for us to repent our sin. It was a friendly reminder and a refresh that God has a plan for his children on Earth. There is forgiveness for us.

8. “For believers, this means that God continually loves us. This love is not based on our ability to keep our promises to God. Rather, it is based on Christ’s ability to keep his promise to God. It is based not on our poor performance but on the perfect performance of Jesus Christ.” John Cartwright and Chris Hulshof,

– For believers I think that it can be easy to have the idea that if we mess up it effects our relationship with God. I will say, I grew up Catholic, and still am, but I am not sure if I have ever heard this before. The idea that it is Christ’s ability to keep his promise to God instead of ours. I could be wrong and have heard it before and it just went in one ear and out the other, but this stuck with me and got the gears turning in my head.

“Unfortunately, for many Christians, Christmas and Easter are the only times they truly reflect on the life and work of Jesus Christ”

This is important because many christians will put Christ on the back burner in their everyday lives. On those major holidays it is important to reflect, but it is a reflection we should do daily. They should serve as reminders of the goodness of God, but the reminder should be constant and consistent throughout your life.

“As a result of Israel’s unbelief, God made Israel wander in the wilderness for forty years.”

This is important to highlight because the journey was never intended to take that long. Fear and disobedience led the Israelites to take this course and can reflect into our own lives. Maybe there have been times where we took forever to get something or somewhere merely because of our disobedience and lack of faith.
