Please see attachment below

The research hypothesis typically states the anticipated relationship between variables in
a quantitative study. Oftentimes, these variables are labeled as dependent and
independent, with the independent variable meaning the intervention, treatment, or
other change that is introduced. The researcher then wishes to measure the impact of
that change on the dependent variable.

Why might it be important for a researcher to predict the findings and show the
variables’ expected relationship in this manner? What purpose does the hypothesis
serve? In this Discussion, you answer these questions and generate a hypothesis for your
own proposed study.

• Review the Learning Resources on the research hypothesis and its purpose.
• Consider the problem you have identified, the research question, and your initial

reading of the peer-reviewed research articles. Based on these, generate a research
hypothesis.

• Note: If your research question is qualitative, for the purposes of this Discussion,
consider how you would change the question to use a quantitative approach. Then
develop a hypothesis that would be generated from that question.

Assignment below

Write your description of the hypothesis’s function in the research process. Then, share

the hypothesis you have generated for your research question. Identify the independent

and dependent variables in your hypothesis.

Previous assignment with my research questions below.

Identified Problem and Gap in Knowledge

The research question I am interested in is about how
refugees and asylum seekers can get the culturally sensitive

and trauma-informed mental health interventions they
require. Worldwide, many displaced people are having
problems finding and getting psychological support. While
mental health services are offered to the displaced persons,
the efficiency of population-based specific interventions is
yet to be known.

Developing the Research Question

Based on the problem, my research question is: “What are
the common barriers and facilitators in accessing culturally
adapted and trauma-informed mental health interventions
for refugees and asylum seekers, and how do these
interventions contribute to overall health, well-being, and
integration of the affected individuals?” This research
question discusses the knowledge gap concerning mental
health interventions for displaced populations. The research
will focus on determining the barriers and facilitators that
will enhance the delivery of services and the well-being and
integration of refugees and asylum seekers.

Relationship to Social Work Practice

This research issue and question are crucial to social work,
especially about vulnerable and marginalized groups. Social
workers are a vital part of the workforce that promotes
quality mental health care and eliminates structural barriers
to wellness and inclusion (Yegidis et al., 2018). Social

professionals can help refugees and asylum seekers build
resilience, empowerment, and social justice by doing
research.

Methodological Approach

Different research methods are used in the peer-reviewed
articles. Liebling et al. (2024) use narrative interviews and
thematic analysis to study refugee survivors’ opinions on
justice and trauma in their article. This method provides a
deep insight of participants’ experiences and environmental
elements affecting their well-being. Hensel et al. (2020) use
population-level data to quantitatively analyze mental
problems in Canadian justice-involved people. Statistical
evidence and comparative analysis show justice system
mental health outcomes trends and discrepancies.
