Phonetics

Phonology

Lexicon

Pragmatics

In your graphic organizer you should:

Explain why each element of language is vital to an English learner’s success in language proficiency.

Part 2: Second Language Acquisition

Create a separate graphic organizer that provides information on two topics:

The stages of second language acquisition

The different theories of language acquisition

The organizer should outline the stages of second language acquisition (i.e. Pre-production, Early Production, etc.) . Provide a detailed example for each stage of second language acquisition that demonstrates the characteristics of English learners.

In your graphic organizer you should also describe the different theories of language acquisition (behaviorist, innatist, interactionist).

Then, explain which theoretical perspective(s) you favor, and why.
