While it may be easy to measure program
outputs (such as how many people attended program events), it may be more difficult to measure
outcomes. And while you may be able to look at someone and observe change over time, how do you really know change has occurred? The goal of validated measurement instruments is to make this somewhat vague or mysterious process more scientific. Tools such as client satisfaction surveys, scales, assessments, and inventories like the Beck Depression Inventory provide specific information with which to measure outcomes.

In this Assignment, you research and select the instruments that you would use for
measurement of your program outcomes.

TO PREPARE

· Review Chapter 9 of the course text to learn about methods for measuring outcomes.

· Consider the outcomes that you have crafted for your proposed program and how you might measure the extent to which the program is achieving those outcomes.

· Use the Walden Library link in the Learning Resources to explore databases for tests and measures (i.e., instruments) pertaining to your refined outcomes.

BY DAY 7

Submit a 1- to 2-page paper in which you:

· Describe how you would measure the outcomes that you identified in Discussion.

· Specifically, identify the
two best measurement instruments that you would use and explain why.

· Include strengths and limitations, and consider criteria such as usefulness, validity, reliability, precision, feasibility, and cost.

· Describe how you would collect the data and what you would expect to learn from it.

Use the Learning Resources and peer-reviewed scholarly journal articles to support your paper. Make sure to include appropriate APA citations and a reference list.

Discussion post:

Good Afternoon,

Briefly describe the overarching aim/goal of your proposed program.

The objective of the proposed program is to enhance the standard of care for individuals facing language barriers in domestic violence shelter environments. Implementing this program will utilize a logic model to raise awareness in communities regarding the impact of language barriers, offering interpreters, multilingual written materials, trained staff, and advocating for funding to improve care quality for affected individuals, ultimately working towards eliminating this obstacle. Measurable goals are essential for program success, aiming to provide precise baseline and practice intervention (Dudley, 2020). Data will also assist advocates in developing accurate care plans and tailoring client education to individual needs and educational levels.

Select two outcomes from your program-level logic model and write them in a sentence

format that includes performance, conditions, and criteria.

The program-level logic model I have includes two main outcomes: enhancing primary care access and decreasing shelter visits. Language barriers have a notable impact on the quality of care individuals receive, especially when professionals and clients do not share the same native language. Providers at Domestic Violence shelters must ensure that all clients receive equitable, high-quality care that upholds human rights principles, irrespective of language barriers. Facilitating connections between clients and advocates who speak the same language can greatly enhance primary care access and build trust between them.

Explain how these outcomes would support the overarching aim/goal of the program.

Implementing training programs for shelter staff on effective communication strategies can lead to better outcomes for clients, including increased trust, improved understanding of available resources, and a higher likelihood of successful transition out of the shelter system (Reducing, 2024). Utilizing technology, such as secure messaging platforms or virtual support groups, can also improve communication between shelter staff and clients, especially in situations where face-to-face interactions may not be possible or safe.
